The workshop showcased the creative process and lessons learned from the team that produced the Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities’ successful virtual productions of “The Family Tree” (December 2020) and “Christie Con” (March 2021). Both productions were performed live from performers’ homes via ZOOM, utilizing numerous strategies for authentic audience engagement. The workshop included talking to the directors, actors and the playwright about numerous topics including: the funding process, technology challenges and opportunities, audience engagement strategies, rehearsal and design logistics, and sustainability after COVID-19.

Panelists included: Lynne Collins (Artistic Director of Plays, Arvada Center’s Black Box); Geoffrey Kent (Co-Director/Actor/Fight Director); Jessica Austgen (Playwright/Actor); and Steve Wilson (Actor/Director/CTG Board Member). If you are a company looking to maximize online productions; or if you are a theatre-lover wanting to peer behind the virtual curtain, then this video of our recent workshop is for you!
